Dog Nutrition

An act of kindness or love on your part can hurt or even kill your dog.  Dogs stomachs and digestive systems have very little in common with those of humans.  For instance dogs are primarily meat eaters.  Vegetables can actually make them sick.  Dogs love the taste of milk, but dogs are naturally lactose intolerant and so milk can make your dog sick.  The tips below explain what you should and should not feed your dog.

Chocolate is very dangerous to your dog.  Even small amounts can cause severe illness or death.

Grapes contain a toxin which can damage the kidneys.

Dogs are naturally lactose intolerant  Giving them milk can cause diarrhea.  If your dog likes milk then you can give the dog lactose-free milk products for pets.

Onions and garlic can can damage red blood cells and cause anemia in your dog.

Never give your dog raw eggs. Raw eggs can reduce B vitamins in your dog resulting in skin and hair problems.  Raw eggs can also contain. Raw eggs may also contain Salmonella. On the other hands cooked eggs are an excellent source of protein.

Raw fish can cause your dog to get worms.  It can also result in a thiamine (a B vitamin) deficiency leading to loss of appetite, seizures, and in severe cases, death. More common if raw fish is fed regularly.

Can expand and produce gas in the digestive system, causing pain and possible rupture of the stomach or intestines.

There are a huge number of pet foods and so we will not attempt to rate or rank all of them here.  Instead we would simply like to explain that "not all dog foods are the same".  Some are poor in equability, nutrients, etc., and can have negative affects on dogs starting with gas, bad breath, diarrhea, moist soft stool and can have even worse side effects that can affect your dogs health.  While it might sound smart to buy cheap dog foods today, you may regret this decision as you start spending money in the future on things like having your carpet and furniture cleaned, trips to the veterinarian, and find yourself face to face with a dog with bad breath and gas.... Make the right choice.  Buy pet foods that are specifically recommended by veterinarians for your pet.
